sorry for my late reply but i your suggestion did not fix my problem and I jumped onto redshift instead. I have a x-particles render to execute this week, which is why I am hoping to restart this topic. I cant seem to fix this - i have tried the following

error logging in
this morning i cant use octane. Opening c4d i see this
when i log-in to the website admin i only see my V2 licence. This is with the same log-in and PW normally used to authenticate my V3 licence when i boot c4d. whats up ?

thx Clement+Aoktar. i did miss seeing these files. I haven't checked them but i can see they do sample the texture for colour which is great. In my brief tests i did find octane hair to look very coarse. The distribution of the specular was the culprit. this render proves it can look great though ...

i didn't think octane has control over the colour of each hair ? for example root colour from a texture map ? have i missed something ? thanks

I have experienced this prompt also. I am on a PC and find it happens if I start the c4d app too quickly directly after a restart. Not sure if that's what causes it but that's when it's happened.

PC at both home and work. Stable connections at both locations, never have a failed upload or download. I'll log out manually as you suggest.

I suffer from intermittent problems logging in from my home machine. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. This is my user pattern.

please try to convert your PNG's to Tiffs. All of them in the scene and try again ? If you have alot of them there is a Octane texture manager in the viewer menu which is really good. And i mean really good. It will make swapping out all your textures to a different path and format really easy. Do ...

its not a mistake in the render/editor parameters. I am very familiar with these basic settings. So no its not that.
possibly its a problem with this character in that there is many many parts to it. Being a robot that is unavoidable in this case.
