Thanks Paul, I was trying to avoid that but it seems I got some insight on FB overnight while I slept as well as to why the images take up as much VRAM as they do.
Someone mentioned, "In general (ignoring the fact for now that since Octane 4 there is possible image-compression at rendertime) your ...

Reducing texture sizes not freeing up VRAM
Looking for some help. I'm maxing out my VRAM on my 2080ti in Octane for Modo. I'm on the latest release of Octane 4, and using Modo 12.1v2.
It says 5.4GB being used for textures, but after reducing all my texture file sizes significantly, it hasn't dropped from 5.4GB, even though the combined ...

Re: Insufficient free RAM Preferences
I'll be sure to revisit the thread if it happens again and post as much info as I can. It didn't even occur to me when it was happening because I was trying to hit a deadline and managed to get things working again and thought maybe it was just me or something to do with my config or other plugins ...

Re: Insufficient free RAM Preferences
I can also confirm this bug. I think in some circumstances it legitimately gets triggered, but then refuses to stop triggering even after you've fixed your scene or opened a new one that doesn't even have any geo, or like someone mentioned, just using a test cube.

Re: Atmospheric fog?
I had set up an outdoor scene with the Octane daylight environment and got the settings tweaked really nicely where it looked pretty good as atmospheric perspective, but I got some weird errors when I tried to switch to an HDR instead of the Octane daylight and it wouldn't load the environment ...

Re: Atmospheric fog?
Ah you know what, I take it back.
I played with the files in the thread below, turns out you REALLY need to play around with the Medium Radius and Density settings depending your scene. The scale makes a huge difference.
It works nicely in small scale scenes or super hazy things, but I'm still ...

Re: Atmospheric fog?
Agreed. The old trick of using a large cube or sphere that encompasses your scene provides better results still, but still isn't ideal.
The environment medium settings aren't even usable because it simply provides an overall haze with basically no falloff. Plus, it doesn't even scatter light from ...

Re: Live viewer performance lag in Modo 11
Yeah, it's obviously been a while since I've upgraded my Modo, so I'm not sure if this is something inherent to the updated software and plugins, or if there's something I'm missing that can affect the performance.

Live viewer performance lag in Modo 11
Looking for help in dealing with Octane live viewer performance issues. I made a quick video to show what I mean, this is Octane 2.25 in Modo 701, versus Octane 3 in Modo 11. The older version is nice and smooth, and Octane 3 in 11 is super slow. Any ideas?
