Re: Update the documentation on instancing.
I have to second this. I'm interested in trying Octane in Houdini again, but the only way to find out the status of current features is to trawl through the forums. Where can I go to find out the current status/workflow for instancing in Octane for Houdini?

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but couldn't find any info. Is the QT5 IPR included in these 2021 releases?
Cheers!

Render any mesh as points/particles
It would be great to have the option to render any mesh's points as particles, like in Houdini. Just having that 'particle rendering' tab enabled on the Octane Object tag for all kinds of meshes would be very helpful to me. The main reason would be for rendering an alembic particle point cache in ...

generate a matte for object inside a refraction
Hi,
I have a refractive object, liquid, glass, whatever, and have objects sitting inside this. I'd like to get a matte for these objects, but the normal object color masks do not see inside/through refractions. Is there any way to generate a matte pass for these objects?
Cheers!

Color values close to black render as bright green
I am feeding in the Cd attribute into some curves, which I am rendering with "render as fur/hair object" feature. This all works great, until the color value in Cd drops below around 0.02, approaching black. If it goes lower than that the color suddenly turns bright green. Seen in attached images ...

Great tip, thanks!
But where is the OSL random projection node? Can only see 'OSLProjection' which doesn't seem to do much...

Random color per object
I know you can get random color per instance, but it would be very useful if it was possible to get a random color for any object in the scene, like redshift and arnold can do, to use for texture offsets or color offsets. There is a workaround to use mograph but that is not always practical.

Re: Version 4 - XB3-R1 (Experimental)
Greetings I have this bump that I cannot render to Picture Viewer an old v3.08 scene in this version (XB3 R1), Live viewer renders fine. the picture viewer stays at 0.013% in the octane lower status bar
Version XB2.1 (Test2) renders perfectly the same scene and all the passes without issue and ...

Relative output paths
Hi,
Is it possible to use relative references in the C4D Octane output field? I want to send the scene to someone and just have it render to the project directory, no matter what machine it's on, so without absolute paths.
It just seems to go nowhere unless I put an absolute path in the filename ...
