Octane lights not inheriting animated parent position

Octane lights are not inheriting parents' position when the parents are animated. The lights will follow the parent when the parent is moved or rotated directly from tools in the viewport, but not when the parents are driven by keyframes.

I've tried every kind of constraint as well as things like ...

Re: Volume Rays

We are simple men and not as intelligent as you.

Perhaps in addition to your words of encouragement, you might provide some actual guidance. I'm sure we're not the only ones who would appreciate it!

Re: Volume Rays

That's Cinema 4D, whose Octane integration is infinitely superior to Maya's.

In Maya, we don't have those controls - at least not in any way laid out or labelled or organized like C4D's. Try following that tutorial in Maya.

Volume Rays

What is the process for making godrays without a VDB file?

We have added an Octane VDB, we have encompassed the scene and camera within the "dummy" boundary. We are using a small Plane light, but we are not able to see volume rays around objects no matter which parameters we use.

Thanks,

IES and Spotlights

Latest Octane 2020 build: I do not see IES visualization in Maya 2020 (Win 10/Nvidia 2080TI), and it does not appear any of the .ies files I've tried are working. Is there a clear tutorial for IES files?

Also, I do not understand the Spotlight implementation. The relationship between throw and ...

Re: OctaneRender® for Maya® 3.06 - 10.19 [STABLE]

I'm still on Octane 2; never upgraded. I posted last July (2016) that the 3.0 Maya plug-in release would be a nightmare and I felt sorry for early adopters. I have checked in every 3 months or so and noticed nothing's any better.

It's been 9 months - that's literally enough time to develop and ...

Re: Maxwell Render Meets the GPU

Yes, Maxwell GPU is almost ready. (I'm on the internal testing team.) I just saw the NL guys last week and we were discussing the release, and the myriad complexities of bringing it to GPU. The driver-compatibility nightmare alone sounds scary as hell. :) Still, it's happening, and everyone's ...

Re: Roadmap for the maya plugin

I was surprised people upgraded to 3.0. I can't think of any major software overhaul that doesn't burn the earliest adopters, and in this case, the signs were there that it was going to be far worse than usual. Maya support was already iffy, and this entirely new non-native GUI thing... I mean ...
