Does anyone know how to assign materials to separate objects in a .obj file?
my exporter doesn't create materials, only objects layers so the material map node doesn't register that I can assign a material. bug?

Very nice! been looking for a way to do this. Is there a way to hide the desktop entirely to evaluate the cube without the faint gray outline?
