Hey I just checked one of my older animations / scenes which also has embedded a video / image sequence.
And you are right. The viewport ist _NOT_ updating while scrubbing through the frames. No matter what I set the material / preview / update material etc. to.
But have you tried the following ...

Re: Material Conversion: "Alpha Image" instead of "RGB Image"
Hey Paride,
thank you for your help. :!:
I think I didn't explain it very well:
This is the current "workflow":
-I click on "convert" in the render tab.
-Open the material editor to pick the newly converted material from the new object.
It's usually a diffuse material that has two RGB Image ...

Re: Material Conversion: "Alpha Image" instead of "RGB Image"
Hey paride4331,
what do you mean? Change / Fix my png to what?
I actually like the workflow with having transparency in my texture file... so the problem, from my point of view, isn't the png. It's that octane uses the wrong map type that doesn't support transparency...

Renaming Maps?
Hey All,
is it possible to rename the available maps?
Right now, for example all the maps that load external images are scattered all over the list, because they are named: " A lpha Image", " G reyscale Image", " R GB Image".
It would make it much more organized and usable if they were called ...

Material Conversion: "Alpha Image" instead of "RGB Image"
Hey All,
I am usually using png images with alpha channel for my projects. Which works great.
The only problem is, the octane converter tool, always creates materials that use "RGB Image" as a Map for the Opacity Channel. And this does not work.
So I manually have to change all the Materials to ...

Re: Adding GTX 980ti
Totally depends on the rest of your components.
Best way to figure out: Put your PC under full load, get a device between your PC and your power plug to measure the watts. Look at wikipedia how much the 980ti will need and do the math.
:)

Re: Compiling scene time not related only to the PCIe speed?
Thank you all for the infos. Quite interesting and definitely helping when building a new system.
But isn't all the loading time and the time is takes to convert a scene mostly irrelevant when using 3 or 4 instances of octane to max out the gpu's?
Atleast that is what I do every day when ...

Re: 3dsmax2011 demo is not refreshing renderiterations?
Hey,
not really sure if you are still interested in this bug but I probably found a reason:
If I change my viewport driver to DX10 the octane viewport does not update render iterations as I explained above.
Switching the viewport driver to DX9 or OpenGL makes the OctaneViewport work just fine ...

Re: Do I need vignetting in animations
It's one of those things that people that "real" cameras use don't like and want to get rid of :) ... and cg people tend to put into their animations to make them look more "real"
