Re: Fog doesn't seem logical to me

You don't need octane_volumetrics for this. As I said you just need to adjust the medium radius and that's it.

Right, you don't need them... but for me personally I think it's faster to just set up a primitive real quick, rather than trying to get the right medium radius/density balance. I just ...

Re: Fog doesn't seem logical to me

I have always felt like Octane's environment Volume Fog is a little clunky, especially when trying to "art direct" it, so I usually just end up adding an Octane_Volumetrics object and set it to Procedural mode, with a low grid res. Then I just make it big enough to cover the scene as needed... it ...

Re: make laser ray beams in octane ?

For the beam itself, you can create it using a long thin tube with an opening at one end and a small light source at the other end. Kinda like this:

The light source needs to be very small and very bright for best results. Of course, it needs a volume fog or some other medium to ...

Floating high above gingerbread village...

Gingerbread hot-air balloons!

Made this to use as the family christmas card this year :)

Sculpting/painting was done in 3DCoat, rendering was done in Octane for Lightwave, snow and sugar crystals are native instances. A little post color-correct in AE, but everything else is Octane.

happy ...

Re: High Pressure Water Effect - Turbulence FD

I agree with OlaHaldor... it'll work great for steam or other gasses, but not as much for liquid water. The motion itself will be an issue since I think the types of calculations being performed are different for a gaseous fluid sim versus a liquid fluid sim, and additionally you'll have trouble ...

Little Cloud

Hi all,

I wanted to take a break from some bigger projects, and do something small and quick to shake loose the mental cobwebs! Here's what I came up with--

CloudLamp_comp_v006.jpg

Some details:

- rendered in Octane for Lightwave
- PMC kernal
- TurbulenceFD was used to create the cloud ...

Re: Project Titan

Great work! The lighting and texturing are especially nice, like the detailing on the circuit board. The behind-the-scenes writeup is a nice touch too, thanks for sharing!

Re: Rendering look question

Yeah but it is not a catoony style, in octane everything is so realistic and i like that as well but if i need a cartoony look ...

Is there a specific effect from those examples that you’re wanting to re-create? I’m not really seeing anything in there that couldn’t be done in Octane, combined ...

Re: Octane/Lightwave Surfacing

What types of surfaces specifically are you having trouble with?

When I first started using Octane for LW, I was bummed because I had a lot of fairly-complex surface node setups that were now useless. After using Octane for a while, there are definitely some tools and functions I miss but in the ...

Re: infinity

Looking good, Jelly! Yeah the thing to remember about the effect is that even in the real world, the ambient light entering into the mirror-space can't be too strong compared to the lights inside the mirror-space, or it will overpower the effect. It's about finding the balance between blocking ...
