Re: Blender / Octane / Collada

Well chances are you won't get blender materials out of blender since Collada doesn't support that kind of information, as far as I'm aware.

Your best bet is to export the model with multiple materials applied to the mesh with there own unique names and then create the stuff in Octane. Textures are ...

Re: 8600M GT ahaha

I believe you have to import them as an .obj and then go from there.

By the way if you click the little macro icon it sets up a whole scene and you just need to add a mesh node.

Re: Crash and snow

Get a hardware temperature monitor and check the temperature of your GPU it could be over heating, even if it isn't over clocked.

If the white spots/ snow'ish looking spots are staying after you close down Octane than you can pretty much guarantee it's a hardware (heat) problem. If your temps. are ...

Mercedes SSKL 1929

So my first successful image from Octane.

I may develop a scene for this, or just go onto something fresh and new to show off in Octane, but for now I'm pretty happy.

Render time was roughly 1 minute 27 seconds.

It has some bright spots but I believe MLT will solve that issue.

Re: Observations

If meshes are missing some sections try checking the import in other applications as it may be your package isn't exporting correctly or it could be you have flipped normals, or any number of mesh issues.

Re: 8600M GT ahaha

Well everything you see on your screen is passed via the graphic card, so if the graphic card is being maxed out then everything else will appear slow.

Re: 8600M GT ahaha

You don't need them!

You have a later version.

If it works, it work's, just keep using them. I think Radiance placed that in the read me as a miniumum driver so people who have lower revisions go download it.

Does Octane open and run on your card?

Re: 8600M GT ahaha

Cuda is a standard feature of Nvidia cards nowadays. If it's a recent (few months old) it'll have CUDA bundled with it.

Re: Random questions

Lots of applications can export RIB format, it's an open standard so I think it's the best format to go for.

Unbiased rendering isn't just for Archviz and CAD work, so having multiple open and reliable formats is a good thing.

What formats are best exported from CAD?

Re: Waiting... :P

Haha I agree, I am rather excited too, however sad that may be, I really don't care :D

This is a huge step forward for Unbiased rendering, I have a few scenes lying around that I really cannot wait to try out.

Much thanks again to Radiance and the guys who helped out, This looks like another ...
