So I upgraded to 4.02.1.19... which I really should have done a long time ago!
Anyway, I've been doing some rendering, and for the most part it's working great...
BUT unfortunately the issue with inconsistent shading along body part seam lines is still there! Again, I've observed it with different ...

Check out the attached image to see all the different things I tried that didn't ...

Re: Poser 11.2 Update
I've noticed what I'm pretty sure is a new problem. Note that I'm using Octane v3.7.0.85, along with the V4 redspec shaders.
Basically, when subdivision is enabled on a figure, there'sa noticeable lighting inconsistency along the seams between two body parts. It's shown up across different figures ...

Re: Is it possible to change default bump and specular values?
Yes, thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for, and a huge time-saver!

Is it possible to change default bump and specular values?
Is it possible to change default material values (outside of the handful of settings you can change in the Setup menu?)
Here's what I mean. 99% of Poser materials will import with settings like this:
Wall Material [Glossy]
Diffuse: whatever
Specular: .05
Bump Power: .05
The default specularity ...
