Re: Another workstation advice-thread

300mm for the top cable and 600mm for the bottom. The cables are pretty flexible so you can see how we bent it around for the bottom card. The top card draws fresh air in from the top of the case. The bottom card gets its fresh air from the 2 200mm fans on the front of the case (one comes mounted ...

We did the mounting old school with zip ties. It works. Not sure why the pictures came in upside down - sorry.
The pics were correctly oriented when you clicked them so all good! Would have been all good if they were upside down once clicked as well :-D ...

Re: Another workstation advice-thread

We have a similar setup with the Asus WS x299 SAGE motherboard and X9 case and i9 processor. We are running 4 RTX Titans and the processor all on air with average temps of 72-73c on the cards running 24x7. The key to making it all work on air with this board was using 2 Thermaltake TT Premium PCI-E ...

Re: Another workstation advice-thread

Yes, the X9 orients the mobo horizontally and the GPUs are vertical, but it is your mobo which decides how close your GPUs are to one another. I believe PCIE slots are maybe a standard distance from each other on ATX mobos... All I know is my three hybrids are mere millimeters away from each other ...

Another workstation advice-thread

Ok so it's time to upgrade my x99-build and I want to make sure I make the right choices in terms of hardware and cooling options. I will both use this machine for Octane but also a lot of After effects, Photoshop etc

Invisible lights still reflecting on glass

Hi,
I am trying to understand what I am doing wrong here.

I have a very simple scene with a fractured glass pane (an extruded vectorizer), a black plane behind it and two moving area lights in front to light up the cracks. The desired result is to get only the reflections/speculars of the cracks in ...

Re: First "real" render

Thanks for the reply!
I didn't really set out to create a "finished" image with this (I know all too well that images of all sorts and kinds are never really finished ;) ) but more try to educate myself on different aspects of the 3D workflow and I've always enjoyed looking at archviz-type of images ...

Re: First "real" render

Thank you both for your comments!

smicha: Yes, I will try upping the samples to maybe 5000 and see if there is a big difference in noise. I personally don't mind a little bit of noise since it mimics a real world digital photography but for these situations I should of course try to get a clean ...

First "real" render

Hi everyone
After lurking around the forum and learning and being inspired by all fantastic renders here is my first attempt at a somewhat proper render in Octane.
I have previously only done very limited swishy swooshy abstract animations and spinning ipads and the likes for clients who want to ...
