Re: Refractive Software® is discontinuing Cubix Xpander support

Theoretically it is possible. This is basically what the cubix, and other expander units, do. PCIe 2.0 can handle up to 32 devices, if memory serves, could be way off on that. The card supplied with a cubix box just plugs into your PC and has a port for an external connection to the external box ...

Re: Refractive Software® is discontinuing Cubix Xpander support

Been a long time since I've been on here. Work and other hobbies have just taken my focus away from the cg world. Having spent some time with the cubix boys at siggraph and seeing the response they received there, the product is a good one and relatively inexpensive when you compare it to it's main ...

Re: Sintel blender 3D

I was one of the lucky few who saw this at Siggraph. I agree it is great, but suffers from the blender render engine a great bit. I love blender, and am an avid user, so don't get me wrong. Ton and I, and a few other blender people, talked at great lengths about Octane and Blender during our ...

Re: Downscaling

I think you can press ctrl+scroll wheel to zoom the viewport out without effecting the render frame.

Re: Octane Render at Nvidia GTC 2010 ?

I don't think anything is planned for any conventions/conferences right now. I think their focus is on getting 2.3 final out and looking at 3.

Re: Physically based parametrs

Also, for clarification, Octane does not support "displacement" maps yet. These maps actually alter the geometry whereas a bump or normal map work very differently. Displacement maps are aid to be on the horizon, just not yet.

Re: Speed Comparison Octane render VS Bunkspeed Shot

Not to stir up any crazy back and forth about these render engines, but I have tried both, and a few others, just to see what is out there. Shot was ok. I tested it with a well used scene and I didn't find the render result all that impressive compared to Octane. One of the big things I didn't like ...

Re: Possible silly question

Well it is pretty easy to find definitions for biased and unbiased rendering. Your explanation is pretty accurate and it sounds like this other person is just being stubborn. Sometimes people just wont listen to reason. Not sure what "experts" she is talking to, but if they don't know the ...

Re: Price Deals

Once the software gets to v2.0 it will cost an additional 99 euro. Technically we are on v1.022 and will be in the v1.x for some time.

"Your beta license will also be valid for the final v1.0 Studio Edition release, and subsequent dot releases such as v1.1, v1.2, etc, and will allow a reduced ...

Re: Price Deals

Like Pixelrush said, I don't think the 49 euro will be coming back. The 199 euro price tag wont go into effect until early 2011 sometime, if we go off of what radiance has said in the past. At that point current users will have to pay an additional 99 euro to get the next version. Look at it now as ...
