Wish: Export SELECTED objects to OCS/ORBX
I really like Octane Standalone for its stability and speed, and I find it much easier to set up multiple render outputs and complex scenes in Standalone. Sketchup is great for architectural modeling, but is pretty weak in scene management, and architecture scenes can involve many different options ...

Re: Instances and duplicates vs. random colors
It appears that instances from geometry nodes aren't getting their IDs properly translated to the Octane scene graph.
I made a test with geometry node instances to the left, and instances on faces to the right. As you can see in the first image, the instance range node isn't working with the geo ...

Changing GUI layout / content
I'd like to ask if there's a correct way to update the contents of a lua script gui window? I know about data binding for individual components, but I'm hoping to add or remove whole child components in response to some user actions. Or, is it better to close and recreate the window component ...

Re: LuaSocket and LuaFileSystem for Windows
I'm trying to write a script to bring materials and assets into Standalone from Quixel Bridge, for which LuaSocket and LuaFileSystem would be extremely useful. Unfortunately they are not working for me - I tested with Octane Standalone 2024.1 Alpha, and 2022.1. Every time I run the example script ...

Re: Dielectric specular value?
Thank you! Your website is extremely helpful, I'm bookmarking it! These kinds of practical examples should make their way into Octanes documentation. (Don't get me started on IES lights)

Dielectric specular value?
I'm a little confused about Octane's universal material, specifically about what is the appropriate value to use in the 'Specular' color input.

Spectron in Octane Standalone
How does one add Spectron light primitives in Octane Standalone?
All I can find is the volumetric spotlight which is mentioned in the documentation, but I was looking for the sphere / plane primitives for area lighting, IES lights, etc.
Also, is there a specific forum to ask questions about ...

Re: Octane 4 vs 3 NT_GEO_GROUP pin info
Yes, I'm seeing the same issue in Octane 4.04.
And I don't see any other way of accessing the names of material input pins!
I've sent a bug report email, hope this gets solved soonish...

Material linker
Hi,
I'm sharing a script that I wrote to help deal with the large number of materials and meshes I have in my architectural scenes. I used to spend a lot of time connecting pins to each other for every new mesh in my scene, and it was tedious especially with so many lines covering the scene graph ...

Emitters: radiant power vs luminous power
I'm using Octane Standalone, and I'm hoping someone could clarify a few questions about how Octane deals with emitter power. Unfortunately the official documentation seems unclear on the units of power being used:
- The documentation suggests that the 'power' value is the real world wattage of the ...
