thanks for the response! I got it working after a while. It was the mix material that was blocking out the specularity a bit so I couldn't get the full extent of it.
What about blending modes? Anyone managed to find a way to have it working? Or do I have to do it in post process?
Thanks again :)

Material Blend modes & questions regarding IOR
Sorry I'm posting a lot lately and asking questions. I'm experimenting with skin shaders and SSS these days. What I realized was that the way the material mix works is based on an opacity and there is no blending modes available to my knowledge. What if I only want the reflections/specular from the ...

Re: linear workflow
Thanks for the response guys! I'm starting to understand this much better... just a few more questions left. When you guys talk about the gamma correction, you're talking about the actual gamma slider for the "image" node after you import a texture, correct? Secondly, when you say film response ...

Re: GPU memory issue/question
hey fooze, thnx for the response!
so i tried it again tonight and more memory freed up. last night it went up to 650 mbs and just stopped there and from above that octane crashed a few times. Now it seems to be using the full extent of it, sitting at 700 mbs being used at the moment with more 4k ...

Re: Octane sculpt render!
just some updates! The colors are not coming out as expected. I tried to understand linear workflow for octane but from the information i've gathered so far it seems backwards from what I do in vray and mentalray... so gonna take a bit more time to work out the kinks there. Another issue I ran into ...

Re: GPU memory issue/question
s Would installing a second card that works just for the monitor and everything else help with this? I read that it will help with windows navigation and what not but doesn't really explain anything based on this.
Yes, that helps because then all memory is reserved for Octane.
I did the same here ...

Re: GPU memory issue/question
thanks for the quick response. I understand that textures are the most memory consuming things in octane which is why I upgraded to a new vid card with 3Gb of GPU but at the moment only 640 mbs are available for me in Octane that's where I thought was ridiculous. So I guess what I'm looking for is a ...

GPU memory issue/question
so I've been digging around so much lately regarding this issue but I couldn't find anything useful so I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I bought a GTX 660 with 3Gbs of GPU for octane. (I currently only have one card installed, have a second as a spare when I get a new power supply). Last ...

Re: linear workflow
interesting, that's opposite of whatever I read from before... as far as my understanding goes photoshop codes the images with a 2.2 gamma so that they will appear properly on our monitors because our monitors' color space is technically 2.2 if we don't fiddle around with it.
So you mean Octane ...

Re: Linear workflow in octane
Thnx for the fast response!
I was thinking about the same thing. It's a shame since the parameters are all there for the textures already.
Thanks for the verification! I guess tweaking before hand would be the way to go for now!
