Re: Request for official statement concerning the OcDS plugin
I dont think anyone should expect we will get the plugin for free just because of the troubles we have had with the current plugin.
It's their right to define the pricing for V3, but for me is more important to get what I paid for:
* released version of DAZ Studio plugin for Octane 1.x ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
For instance, in the provided example we are looking at a close up of a nude arm pit while the arm is straight out. Most arms aren't naturally in that position for a close up. Most arms are down in some way, and often clothing is worn.
I've just used the same mesh and close enough lighting and ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
Also... did you try smoothing? I do that sometimes with accordioned hip or arm bends.
With this 'issue' increasing the subd level as linvanchene suggested is legit method. A bit 'brute force' thou :) Smoothing cannot help here as bad things happen after all modifiers got applied - when ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
I wonder how far we can get with using displacement maps instead of HD morphs?
Displacement maps have some limitations:
1. they work along the surface normal only while morph may move vertices in any direction. So with morph you can make say a curly horns and not with the displacement
2. like any ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
One more for the list: Weird triangles on V7:
Daz3d seemed to have optimized G3F for Iray which applies some subdivision by default when rendering.
Even DAZ cannot be so evil :) We had discussion (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/58050/) where MallenLane, creator of G3, explained some ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
With the 'Normal Map' issue, does anyone know why the shadows, when Normal is 2 in these situations, are so pixelated?
Generally shading computations involving normal maps assume that directional vectors represented by normal map have unit length. When not results are unpredictable and renderer ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
It has been 3 weeks.
Have I missed the post about fixes/changes/new features?
No, it still is 'going to come'.
Forum members are putting together a list of known bugs, to present to t_3, but he hasn't said exactly what was changed, what is new, and what he has fixed. Maybe parts of the bug list ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
I am open to the possibility I'm just doing something horribly, stupidly wrong, and welcome any constructive illustration of such. Random image because it made me think of summer:

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
Linvanchene, can you expand on what the reported issue with #6 and #7 is?
I didn't encounter any animation specific issues yet, just tell/remind me if there are any known.
My posts earlier in this thread have everything about #6 and #7, with illustrations. Other posts describe various problems ...

Re: OcDS Setup v2.2 (last Beta)
These users put in time and effort into testing. You mean to tell me they all cumulatively overlooked this:
First reports of bugs in this version were within hours from the release, material conversion being one of them. All people on this forum have put their time and effort into testing. So ...
