Ok, thanks for the feedback.
I was thinking I could just import the mesh without having to freeze the geometry, but I guess the smooth is just a "preview". Not a big deal, I was hoping for a quick export obj to import obj without having to do anything with the mesh.

I'm attaching a screenshot. On the left is when I export from modo to obj. Right is when I load the obj in Octane. Smooth is enabled on the far right.

Standalone import obj
I'm brand new to Octane and am having a smoothing issue when importing an obj into my scene. The object loads unsmoothed with low poly meshes when I exported it smoothed. I can get the object loaded smoothed if I up the subDs or freeze the geometry, but that comes with a price. I would think I ...
