Re: Phoenix FD 3.0 Functionality
Thanks Paride. This may be more of a Phoenix question but is there currently a way of converting smoke/fire to a mesh or is the best workflow exporting a .vdb? Saw one or two posts where it looked like a few users were able to get smoke/ fire to render but that may have been fume. Not sure if ...

Phoenix FD 3.0 Functionality
I know there is a topic regarding phoenix already although the execution is still somewhat vague and the latest test release does not give much information. Does the most recent Max Octane plugin work with Phoenix 3.0 beyond liquids? I have played with the trial version a bit but liquid sims are the ...

Re: Collecting Nodes Painfully Slow
Thanks paride, that did the trick. Is there a way to set moveable proxy as the default?

Collecting Nodes Painfully Slow
Hi Everyone,
Been having an issue as of late whenever I am updating the viewport on an animated sequence octane takes a very long time "Updated Nodes" before refreshing. This also extends into any actual animated renders as it seems before rendering each frame octane needs to collect the same nodes ...

Re: Proper Composite Material Conversion
Hopefully not the official response ;) .
Well this is a bit awkward... Decided to try a free script for converting vray materials to redshift inside 3ds max from this post: https://www.redshift3d.com/forums/viewthread/8212/
Guessed it, worked flawlessly in one click. So octane is the only one that ...

Proper Composite Material Conversion
Hello Everyone,
This is a follow up to one of my previous posts regarding some issues converting an evermotion model pack into octane: https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=56222&p=288408&hilit=evermotion#p288408
After a series of emails with evermotion the best solution seemed to be ...

Converting Composite Layers
Hello Everyone,
Been working a bit with the Evermotion Archmodels vol. 165 and one issue I have been coming across is converting the composite layers inside the diffuse slot for a number of buildings. Essentially, some of the materials will convert over while others will just take on the basic ...

Re: Z-depth for Octane Volume?
Haven't had much chance to test out different possibilities, but would the new deep pixel option allow for compositing in after effects with volumes? Primarily want to use Frischluft Lenscare to work with various simulations.

Z-depth for Octane Volume?
Hi Everyone,
Forgive my lack of being up-to-date on all of the latest changes with Version 3.0, but is there a way of generating a z-depth pass with a .vdb volume? I'm still pretty new to the whole process but I was able to get a cloud .vdb from houdini to 3ds max, however aside from the beauty ...

Re: Forest Pack Pro & Forest Color
Hi Azen,
Thanks for the response. I am using a primitive cube or similar inside 3ds max to populate the surface of a plane using forest pack. The forest pack generated items will inherit the material of the original cube, but I was not able to apply a single bitmap that fit the entire surface of ...
