Re: C4D Render Mask
There is an option to turn any material into a "matte". Its a checkbox right above smooth. If you applied this to a plane or sphere, and then used the opacity channel to define which areas to cut out, this might work.

Re: ORBX viewer 2.0
In my experience its the charging that overheats the phone more than anything else. Thats probably why people are getting dif results because some people are more concerned about keeping things fully charged than others.

Re: ORBX viewer 2.0
I have to chime in here. Our studio has over a dozen Octane licenses and we've been using it non-stop for the past couple years. Having worked with other software packages we have been continually amazed at how quickly Otoy is turning around updates and added features to their software. Most ...

Re: Compositing w Cube Maps + Animation
I saw in the other discussion a breakdown of the frame durations we can use for 18k cubemaps in the new OrbX player. It was mentioned that the duration limitation had to do with RAM usage. It stands to reason that if we don't show the full 360 degrees we would be able to have a longer duration for ...

Re: Compositing w Cube Maps + Animation
The 18K cube maps translate to 6144 x 3072 per eye in long/lat spherical pano format.
Is this aspect ratio significant at all? I'm curious how this resolution was figured out, since as you mentioned it uses more pixels than the cube map format.
Interesting. I suppose the idea of an aspect ratio ...

Re: Compositing w Cube Maps + Animation
Seams like eventually it would be possible to have all the static parts of the scene baked into one lightfield image, and alpha the animated elements on top. Can't wait for the future!

Re: Compositing w Cube Maps + Animation
Awesome so many questions answered. You guys rock! I was hoping we could use the natural loop point in Beeple's scene, but that would put is to about 800 frames at 60 fps.
Could try at 30 fps but there's quite a bit of movement.

Re: Compositing w Cube Maps + Animation
Maybe you guys have some info on this as well.. I've heard conflicted numbers on how much time we can actually play back a full 18k cubemap animations. I was told 250 frames at one point but then you guys tweeted about doing 15 secs at 60 fps. I assume some of this discrepancy is due to the phone ...
