(Almost) No problems here (Win 7 64-bit, GTX-470, 257.21)

Update: had one crash when first trying to render the chess_set_procedural demo. After that it works, but the textures are odd (stretched on one axis).

For fun:

Working fine here. Only played with the standard demo scenes here so far though.

Also playing with ZBrush 4, so will try ...

Re: GPU rendering is not the magic bullet it was promised to be

Indeed, I think it's quite exciting that the GPU hardware as well as its applications are still basically in their infancy. I would expect GPU hardware speeds to potentially increase much faster than CPU speeds for a while, as CPUs have been scraping the bottom of the performance barrel for quite a ...

Re: GPU rendering is not the magic bullet it was promised to be

Is that a Modo benchmark scene? Does anybody know where it can be downloaded? .obj would be great.
The one with the spheres looks like it started out as the standard benchmark scene 8spheres.lxo, which might or might not be included in the 30-day demo version of modo, I'm not sure. In any case you ...

Re: GPU rendering is not the magic bullet it was promised to be

I dont think you are actually in a position to know what was in the mind of Lux more than anyone else here unless you are actually involved with them(?).
Nope, just a lowly customer (as I am of Octane, Maxwell, Softimage, Lightwave, Rhino, ZBrush, etc.)

There's no one-true-tool out there, and the ...

Re: GPU rendering is not the magic bullet it was promised to be

Guys, I believe the point of this video was that, as he says, they were investigating whether GPU rendering was really something they should be investing heavily in if it could really offer them a 10x magical performance increase or something. Their testing seems to have suggested to them that they ...

Re: 2.3 release and roadmap

Looking forward to the new toys here very much!

As far as the copy protection stuff goes, here's my advice as a software developer (for 30 years now) which of course you are free to ignore:

Copy protection serves only one purpose: To keep honest customers honest.

Some sort of copy protection can ...

Feature suggestion: Refinement mode/threshold

While I appreciate the concept of an un-biased render, in reality a lot of the time, when dealing with a lot of reflection/refraction, etc., you end up with a lot of "sparkly bits" after a few 1,000 samples.

I would ask whether it might make sense to have a sort of adaptive anti-aliasing mode where ...
