ORC plugin support

(a) Is ORC available to MAX plugin users? If not, is direct support without ORBX export planned?

(b) Assuming I can submit MAX jobs, what happens with 3rd party plugins (Forest, RailClone, etc)?

Re: Octane-related (?) file corruption?

SOLVED!! Turns out there was a glitch with an Octane proxy. Not sure if it was corrupt or mis-pathed or what, but it took the better part of a day for two people to isolate the issue. Glad it's resolved, but it seems there could be a less destructive and more informative way to clue us in.

Octane-related (?) file corruption?

Came in to work on a project today, but we were unable to open it. Tried on multiple computers with same result. Tried opening multiple versions of the file, and the last one that worked was from April 7. That is inexplicable enough, but it gets worse. After testing a number of variables (different ...

Re: GTX_1080 benchmark

Is anyone running 4x1070s with just air cooling? Any trouble?

Also, can someone help me weed through all the different editions of the 1070?

Re: Current video card landscape

I don't see any 1070 or 1080 scores in OctaneBench. That's why I asked.

I'm currently leaning toward 1070s. Seems to be best performance for the money. Does that sound believable?

Also, I had a guy recommend 4 cards without water cooling. Is that realistic?

Thanks!

Other machines in office have dual 6GB 780s. If I were to add a new machine, what should it use to be compatible and equally capable for low investment?

Autosave render?

When rendering a final image, I'll usually start Octane at night. That means saving whenever I wake up. That also means hoping that SketchUp or Octane has not locked up (which happens about 50% of the time). Is there a way to save the image at the end of the render like I do in MAX? That would be ...

Surface Pro/Book

Has anyone tried running Max+Octane on Microsoft's new Surface Book? I'm sure it's not a powerhouse, but I'm wondering if it has enough vram/cores at least for basic modeling, texturing, scene setup , etc.

Re: Trouble with Revit import

The idea of re-authoring is ludicrous

I agree, but it's usually necessary. On the project in question, I ended up biting the bullet and remaking/reassigning materials. I had to guess what material was necessary, since the imported file had 100s (no exaggeration) of multi-subs with no discernible ...
