Hi,
I purchased a c4d scene that uses vray materials.
Can octane read and convert them?
If not, is there a plug-in that will convert them?
Or, do I need to purchase VRay to convert them?
Thanks!

Re: Version 3.08-RC3
What is your Mac setup? I have a 2013 trashcan with AMD cards and still can't get Octane to run (I have to run it on my Windows machine).Kretschi wrote:Hello,

Re: Why do walls increase render time?
From my experience, enclosing a space will naturally increase render times. What ends up happening is that all of those objects that originally existed in a void, now have been enclosed, and lighting and shadows have more places they need to bounce. Geometry doesn't really matter at that point ...

Re: Why do walls increase render time?
Just a guess: additional light bounces.
You might try converting your wall-window structures to simpler geometry by checking "Create single object" in the Boole Object attributes then "Make Editable" the boole.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and it didn't make a big dent in the render ...

Re: Why do walls increase render time?
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I've rendered several interior scenes in the past with render times in the 2-minute range with every object included. Thanks for any help or tips.

Why do walls increase render time?
I have an interior scene. Several high poly objects, glass, lights, environment, etc. When I render without walls, it completes in 1 minute 7 seconds. When I add walls, it completes in 9 minute 3 seconds. My walls are just 4 cubes (no filet) with a diffuse texture, no bump, no displacement, no ...

Re: Convert Octane material back to Cinema 4d material
Hi Beppe,
Thank you for getting back with me.
Here is one of my assets that I have to convert.
HP Printer Platform 11-08-16_01.zip
The file was originally built for a small video but now has to be ported over to Unity so that we can do a VR walk through.
Any tips would be helpful.
Thanks again ...

Convert Octane material back to Cinema 4d material
Hi,
I need to convert a scene with Octane materials back to Cinema 4d materials.
Or at least be able to bake them. I went through the steps to bake them using this link.

But, I haven't had any success. Either it's not working or more likely ...

Hi frankjrmi,
no sorry, no OpenCL support in v3. That announcement is quite old, now there is a new road map:

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.03.3
Hi frankjrmi,
yes correct, your dual AMD are not supported, since Octane is a CUDA application and needs one or more Nvidia gpus. But you can add one or more to you system via Thunderbolt port and E-GPU solutions.
In this way you can use the dual AMD for the system and drawing while the Nvidia GPUs ...
