It's still crashing on 27.11 when starting the render after importing shader using rgb or gray image nodes from the assets browser.
Shaders using the old imagetex works as expected.
I made a very long post explaining in details all of the test i made trying to pinpoint the issue, and my conclusion ...

UPDATE:
It's still crashing with the 27.10.
Another user had a crash too when he tried with the latest rgb and gray image node, so did a new test on my side with the old imagetex and it looks like it's working.
I wondered why some shader loaded fine and some other crashed, all the working ones ...

Yes there is a bug in the python code for the UI.
You can fix it yourself if you feel confident enough, it's easy, go to "BlenderOctane\3.4\scripts\addons\octane" folder
Open the properties.py file in a, good, text editor, do a copy before in case it messed up.
Go to the ligne 537 and add text ...

Hi,
When you set the object type to global it just totally disappears
STABLE version 27.10, but it was the same on 27.8
Just opened a new scene, change the type and launch the viewport render.

Yeah, they ship the 27.10 without even testing it, because this one is a realy easy visible issue, and as easy to fix as opening a file and save.
You can do it yourself with you really need OCIO, go to "BlenderOctane\3.4\scripts\addons\octane" folder, as i'm on windows i don't know how it works on ...

The issue is still here on 27.10, this is important as it's cluttering the search menu wich is supposed to speed up the workflow...and if you made the mistake put a octane node in a "geometry node" node, it can crash.

Hi, there is 2 problems with the gradient node, find it in the 27.8, but is also present in the 27.10 version.
1. When you create a gradient map node it comes by default with only two flags, the start and the end but the node itself has 4 inputs, start, 1, 2, end.

Hi,
did you had the Adapt to Camera View Resolution option ticked ? It is currently bugged and will change your preview render with a wider angle view, viewing your image it could be it.
There is an option in the octane parameter drop-down to clear all cache, geometry and shader but I don’t know if ...

Still happenning in 27.8, and now if you activate Adapt to camera View Resolution the view change a little, for exemple my 50mm camera with this option render like a 40mm.
The final render is ok, but if you place your camera with the interactive rendering you will make mistakes
