CPU usage spikes when translating objects
Seasoned Maya user here but very new to Octane: I'm wondering if I have a setting wrong or something after installing latest Octane 2018.1.1_14.25 version to Maya2019. Seems my CPU usage is spiking high at times 45% - 95% usage when moving simple things around in viewport like spheres and planes ...

It's the Sharon Hair style from Daz uses 'fibermesh' to make up the hair strands. I expect that to mean that it is or at least similar to fibermesh that can be generated from zbrush not really sure. It's basically geometry hair as opposed to standard model hair with the TonySculptor hair shader ...

Ok I think I'm set now. Finished up my skin adjustments for now and settled in on eye settings for the time being. Fun figuring stuff out trying to make things not as intuitive as with other rendering environments I've worked but it will do for proof of concept, determining what looks decent in a ...

You can increase the scale of the bump turbulence node in all materials from the default of 20 I think it is to around 30. you also have to decrease the power from the default of 0.05 to 0.01 to more resemble the look of real skin. Use a close up of the glazing reflection of the skin to dial in your ...

Thanks! I used one of the canned Octane HDR images, the first one I think, for the ambient and backlighting and a front side plane mesh light emitter to lift some of the front side shadows. The texture is the standard v6 texture. I could have spent a little more time making a better selection here ...

Applying Tony Sculptor hair and skin shader. Really nice to see these in DB library. TS hair shader applied directly to fiber mesh geometry from DAZ. Face looks like it might have different settings although I checked a few times. Modified the SSS skin shader slightly liking the glazing reflections ...

Re: Expanding materials in the node graph editor?
Thanks, so the way to do it now is to open the material in the standalone and copy the tree by hand? Or can we import materials from there now, I'm so confused with all these new features :D
sry ;)

My Presets Tab
Ok, tried to understand what this tab, 'My Presets', is for within Octane Main/Materials. I've scoured the manual and have done many searches on this to no avail. I can certainly save material presets in the traditional way with Octane materials intact but would like to know how to use the 'My ...

Can a plugin for Daz be purchased and used if I'm using student version of standalone ?
