You can use baking Texture node for old versions. With 2019.1 you don't need extra tricks. Displacement will accept any nodes.
Aoktar, Thanks for the reply! The amount of involvement you have in the forums is amazing, that is real dedication.
I found a solution for that works for versions older ...

Re: Mix Displacement in mix material
Hello, I am having this same problem now 4 years later. I notice that using C4D layer shader does not work on final output but does work in live viewer. That being said is my only option for displacement an image texture still? Thanks! Love the plugin.

Re: no solution render issue
Hey guys, I was plagued by this problem too. And whats worse is the log does not tell you which texture is making it break. To overcome this issue in a scene with lots of materials I did the following:
Select half of your textures and delete them. if your scene renders more than a few frames you ...

Re: Log files?
Same here. You would think something like that would be in the manual. Instead im searching forums. maybe I just overlooked it. surely its in the manual somewhere.
EDIT: I found it. If you are still looking for it its in octane settings>settings>other>show render log

Re: Solid colored background with HDR environment
This is a huge shortcoming... I would consider the things above to be workarounds.. not solutions to the problem. I do heavy compositing with lots of DOF and and HDR.. the lack of this feature is a huge pain. Not knocking octane as I absolutely love it. I just hope this standard thing will be ...

Re: AfterEffects Closed Beta Testers Wanted
Count me in!! :D :D :D
I do a lot of industrial animations for trade shows and sales. All my work involves heavy 3D (octane) with a lot of compositing in AE
Here is a link to the latest video I did for the client. https://vimeo.com/122666514

Re: Object Buffers broken with 2.16.2 and R16
Dont follow whats coming? what do you mean? I have been poking around the forums and saw that the newer update adds render layer masks which basically adds that functionality back. It looks as if that alternative is probably better than c4d's native compositing tag anyway. Thank you for the quick ...

Object Buffers broken with 2.16.2 and R16
Just what the title says. After I upgraded to 2.16.2 all my object buffer passes are just black. Did they change something around? I am using the c4d compositing tag like I always have. I cant figure it out. any help appreciated!

4x GFX cards heat problems
I plan on building a workstation specifically for octane, I plan on using 4 7xx series GPUs, I know these cards will be right next to eachother. has anyone had any heat problems using a setup like this? Do you guys think I can get away with using air cooling or do I need liquid cooling? I am fairly ...
