Just for clarity, this is same thing in Lightwave - single mesh, but different colors (or maps) for each leaf using an element-aware randmizer.

Re: Random Color Texture, per Element
PS - some time ago i raised same topic - randomize by element - and someone posted a OSL that could do that.
I wanted to give it another run, but i cannot find it.
Can someone point me to the link ?
thanks

Re: Random Color Texture, per Element
Hi Paride,
hard to tell since these are MAX examples but i'll try to explain.
Imagine a city made of many boxes, all part of the same mesh. I want to assign a different texture to each box (different facades) without having to assign, say, 20 random IDs. In Corona and Vray, the Randomizer can work ...

Re: Random Color Texture, per Element
+ 100 on this.
In Corna and Vray we use this all of the time, it's priceless - you can differentiate leaves, buildings etc, without the need of assigning multiple materials.

Post Fog - feature needed
Hello,
new post fog is a wellcome addition to Octane since it make simpler to work on landscape stuff.
Anyway, one feature we miss is *start distance*.
Basically in most situation we need to manage where fog starts - i.e. suppose you do not want for close to camer at all, and you just need to have ...

Re: Water Displacement issue
Hi Paride,
thank you for answering. Beside any possibility we have, i assure that current displacement has major limitations in comparison with any other engine, so it's a relief that Otoy is working on something new.
Independently by the technical choice, you will hit a wall easily in a direction ...

Re: Water Displacement issue
Hi Paride, thanks for the further testing.
Seems ok BUT - as said - the projection of the map is very small, which usually solves (making the issue so small you cannot see it).
Can you make a last try ?
Get your second picture above - the one with the box near the beach - and just change the ...

Re: Material ID
I'm not sure if this is what you are asking, but not all channels work as stable Cryptomatte output. This video isn't specifically for Lightwave, but discusses which matte options work reliably.

Re: Water Displacement issue
Hi Paride,
i'll check the file, but consider that if you want animated water, baking an animated procedural is the only way to get a decent result.
There are some texture sequences on the web but quite frankly result is pretty bad.
Anyway, since i do not have Standalone, i ask you a courtesy since ...
