Re: Is this possible in Octane?

Again theres a reason why I asked if we could do it the way literally everyone else is doing it by having access to user data in octanes node editor is to avoid the mess of what you are describing. It's just bad workflow, if you delete or change a material you now have to manually add that into the ...

Re: Is this possible in Octane?

Now duplicate that material. Having one user data drive multiple materials is the issue because once duplicated you have to do that all over again. No one wants 40 xpresso setups

Is this possible in Octane?

Is a user value driven shader switch possible in Octane like it is for Arnold, Vray, RS or is that out of the skill set here?

Screenshot 2024-11-04 132349.jpg

In this setup there's a User Data node that's pulling Integer data from a user data setup on a null that has options 0-5. Then that ...

Re: Is Octane more photorealistic than Blender Cycles?

I am making some research on Cycles as I find C4D/Octane is lacking lots of things that Blender has: a very lively community and loads of plugins being the most interesting.

As a professional artist this is not a positive. Anytime you have to rely on a 3rd party to get something done or get ...

Re: OctaneRender® 2023.1 Beta 3 [current 2023.1]

Seems like bump mapping in Octane is having some issues.

Beta 2 seems to work better.

Here is a example between redshift and octane with a noise bump ran through a triplanar (seems to cause the issue).

Redshift maintains bump detail far far better even at a very small scale.

Octane falls apart ...

Re: Octane scene corrupted

Your Project Scale is ZERO. Fix it and try again!

Ya... im not sure how that happened. Maybe this is a C4D bug? But it renders in redshift which is odd to me. But I see what you mean in a new scene I see nothing at all the scale is 0. Also none of the sliders work.... I think this might be a C4D ...

Octane scene corrupted

A scene I was working on has suddenly stopped rendering, the whole thing is bugged out. I deleted everything in the scene except the basic's and added a cube even that doesn't show up.

Here is the attached file. This scene was created in the latest 2023 beta ver. It also wont render in 2022 Octane ...

Re: Material stacking

Heres another example where the 2nd material in the stack was able to be positioned correctly but when trying to move the 3rd material in the stack it stays stuck in the middle despite the UV in the viewport clearly being moved to the top right.

Re: Material stacking

we have the material stacking feature since a long time. What do mean with to have it?

Seems there's a bug with it.

when you change projections to say flat they dont update. You have to resend the scene to Octane to see the change. Perhaps this should trigger a refresh in the Live viewer ...

Re: How to improve bumpmapping

Hey there,

i need to create a material with a very fine bump map, but i can't achieve the look I'm after. It looks to me that bump mapping is behaving a little weird. I can get far better results using displacement (which needs UVs and can't deal with procedural textures without baking). I know ...
