Skipped 2019 because it messed up everything - EVERYTHING !
But - first impressions of this are incredibly favourable. .. got a 4x speed increase on an interior render with rtx - 20mins down from 1hr20mins. Really really impressive.
Shame that we've moved over to vray next while you mucked about ...

Re: multiple passes
Busy with a deadline at the moment - so will write a longer response later.
But for now - my problem, which may be all down to me not understanding how the changes work, is this:
I prefer to work using the Octane render window interactively and not always rendering to saved files - so I have my ...

Re: multiple passes
Hey - thanks for taking the time to do this.
Can we have it changed back to the good way it was done before now please.
Cheers,
Marc.

Render elements / passes ?
Used to work really nicely - now they're not - now I can't get them to work at all.
Maybe you've changed how they work? Who knows? Your 'documentation' suggests they haven't changed - set them up with Render Elements tab (are they elements or passes? please decide) - and ...

Toon Shader
Hi Otoy....
I'm confused - instead of making a bit of effort so that the engine sees octane scenes and just renders them in a 'toon' style (like all other renderers) - we have to apply completely new shaders, use new lights, and new cameras? and only with curved organic objects?
Am I getting ...

Re: Vray convertion crash max with this file
The way I stopped all vray conversion crashes :
1, Convert all VRay2SidedMtl to normal material (drag front material to top level)
2, Ensure Translucency type is set to None (ie. not Hard Wax, Soft Wax or Hybrid)
3, Ensure Refract colour is completely black. .. . otherwise it becomes a stupid ...

Re: We are close to leave octane
I've made the jump and bought V-Ray - a return to the old beast after 3 years of struggling with Octane. Vray RT has really come a long way and is now a production renderer - well it is for me anyway. Everything works - everything just WORKS! And the gigabytes of models I've bought over the years ...

Re: Liquid Simulation
Thanks Coilbrook,
So - there _is_ phoenix support in the latest Octane - but it's for what? phoenix 2.2 or 2.3 or something? but not for phoenix fd 3 - which is the allegedly ace fast new version?
Genuinely amazed that we still have to use a hack to force these animated meshes to load. .. . +sigh ...

I'm running that release right now.
I might well spend some time and test it to see if it works . .. ..

Cheers,
Marc.

Liquid Simulation
So - about 2 years ago. . . I had a summer of rendering out a huge project. . . lots of water animation. I used realflow and did that HACK of having to force the frame ticker onto the next frame to load in the next water mesh. .. . what a nightmare.
