Re: OctaneRender™ 2019 for Blender® 2.8 - new free tier!

Hi,

I think that the Intel denoiser works better than the embedded denoiser available in Octane (Nvidia Optix?)

I leaved the default values.

I'm testing the experimental 2.8.1.2. There are a lot of things very useful, drag copy color, shift multiple selection of collections and the Intel denoiser ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 2019 for Blender® 2.8 - new free tier!

this is a stupid test to understand how Octane for Blender works.
To enable the denoiser it has to be composited.

I found the follow issues:

while the viewport is rendering launching at the same time a full render hangs Blender.
Sometime killing the Octane Server helps.
Linked external collections ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 2019 for Blender® 2.8 - new free tier!

is it possible to have the zip file as installer?
Blender RC3 is obsolete and I'm testing the 2.8 final and also the 2.81

Re: When will octane support rail clone?

Karba version worked perfectly with Railclone.
I used a lot of times.
Don't know about the latest Railclone + Octane for Max upgrades.
Render plugin programmers should look at the most popular Max tools and interface with them. Cooperation is important.

Re: Build a custom render rig with 10.000+ renderpower

I think that there are many things to consider

the resolution you need to fill can be reduced then enlarged with After Effects. Many people can't distinguish between a 2K to 4K upscale. There are some plugins that do very well this job.

Your benchmarks on what gpus are based? I read you have some ...

Re: ETA on proper v3 version

If Otoy has enough money it can find the best programmers on the planet.
Unfortunately the best cg programmers are already working on their own products.
Autodesk was the only company that bought Solid Angle and a good team of people.
I don't think it was a good idea because Arnold doesn't work on ...

Re: Geforce 1080 Device not recognized

Pascal works only with Cuda 8.0. It will be released in August.
At the moment you can play games with the 1080.

Re: 3DS Max Roadmap & Strategy

After Karba Otoy can't find good programmers able to code with c++, Cuda and Max Sdk.
All over the world there are very few programmers with good skills cgi oriented.
it's not easy to find persons like Vlado, Ondra and Andrey...that's why we have so few renderers that really work and are well ...

Octane for Max 3.0 licenses upgrade

Dear Otoy,

probably you know I own 4 Octane for Max licenses, one Octane for Rhino, one Octane for After Effects.
Probably you don't know I was the most active users on this forum doing a lot of beta testing since when Otoy acquired Refractive Software company and Karba developed Octane for Max ...

Re: Water Caustics Help

you need a deformed mesh with displacement to simulate waves.
You have to use PMC and parallelism set to maximum.
