Would it be possible to install the plugin in a central server location?
Meaning, copying the .mll file into MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH, defining where Maya can find other files such as the octane.dll, octane.dat and octaneRenderer.xml and lastly uninstall the local copy of Octane.
