Re: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD [SOLVED]

Hey glimpse, 100% true statement - NVIDIA will likely not fix this issue since newer boards will likely use updated PCI-e switches (maybe even from PLX), but there is no money to be made in fixing it for the small number of failures encountered. Unfortunately this seems to be our only practical ...

Re: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD [SOLVED]

Hey linvanchene, any time you upgrade drivers, the MSI state will be lost so you must re-enable them using the utility. I tend to restrict driver upgrades using gpedit on windows, so this does't happen any more unexpectedly when MS decides my non-issues need to become issues :0)

Re: Otoy, please pressure Nvidia. X99 mobo BSOD PLX chip bug.

I am also using the X99-E WS usb 3.1 mobo under nvidia 398.82 with MSI mode enabled and its rock solid.

One thing to do is to update to that nvidia version, then click on the msi mode, apply button in the upper right, and reboot. Make sure it is still enabled by admin running the tool again for ...

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD [SOLVED]

I just wanted to let you guys n gals know that this issue seems to have been solved, so I am sharing it with the greater 3D community as widely as possible. This happens to mobo's using more than a single GPU on a board with PLX chips (X99)

Our current workstations are using:
X99-E WS usb 3.1 (Bios ...

Re: Opinions needed on a 4 GPU Rig

These are GREAT cards and very energy efficient. We beat our old Titans and use much less energy while doing it. Very stable cards. Please water cool them though so they can render for ages :0)

Re: Otoy, please pressure Nvidia. X99 mobo BSOD PLX chip bug.

HOLY CRAP THIS MAY BE [SOLVED]!

I just got done rendering for hours (instead of minutes then BSOD) with Win10 1803/Nvidia 399.07 and octane 4 without a single crash!
X99-E WS usb 3.1 (Bios 3803, likely not required)
Xeon E51650-V3
256 GB ECC RAM
4 GTX 1080 TI's and misc other I/O cards.

Re: Otoy, please pressure Nvidia. X99 mobo BSOD PLX chip bug.

Running an X99-E ws usb 3.1 here with Windows 10 and the higher the driver used, the faster the crash seems to happen. This happens as well on ASUS X99-E-10G WS. The funny thing is that this is the exact board Nvidia uses in their quad-gpu DGX workstations with no issues (not running W10 obviously ...
