I remember the same issue more than a year ago.
I'm very wondering that is still not solved...

Re: I am a Blender for Octane user since ...
Good question.
My latest tests are more than a year ago.
The full integration of Octane into Blender did never convince me because it had alot of bugs and did not support needed features - Cycles was mutch more flexible and closer to production use.

Re: Villa over the hills
Very nice !
Did you render with Octane Standalone or with the Octane integrated in Blender Renderengine ?
Kind regards
Alain

Re: OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.15 - 7.0 Win [TEST]
Sorry, I don't understand.
Does it matter where you use it ?
If an image is in grayscale then it uses less memory and you can use it where ever you want, it doesn't matter if you put into a Diffuse or Bump-Input.
Autodetection shoudn't be a problem, if you have no Colorvalues and only ...

Re: OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.15 - 7.0 Win [TEST]
What's the difference between "Image Texture" and "Float Texture", isn't it the same ?
You should refer to the Manual — thy are RGB and Greyscale images.
Why to make a diffenrence between color and grayscale Images ? Do grayscale Image not use less memory be default ?

Re: OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.15 - 7.0 Win [TEST]
Color Correction is here:
output_bGToxU_.gif
But there is a little Bug.
As you can see, the left Node goes into "Invert" by default insteat to "Texture".
To place "Color Correction" under "Octance Texture" makes no sence, because it's not a Texture, it's a "Modifier".

A little Bug:
When define a Renderregion in the Viewport and when I zoom into this Renderregion while rendering, then it cuts the "Octane-Renderregion".
See here: Kind regards

Re: OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.15 - 7.0 Win [TEST]
There is another question:
If I make a linked Copy of an Object in Blender (Alt-d), what I kind of Octane-Object do I have to choose then to NOT load it twice into GPU-Memory, "Movable Proxy" ?
