Re: small request :)

I know ;) The problem is, that we haven't released the final version yet, which means the current version number is actually something more like 0.8.something or 0.9.something . I guess, the scope of OctaneRender 1.0 final has changed tremendously from what was originally anticipated, hence the ...

small request :)

please bear with me on this one, heh

its not an engine feature, more of an organizational request :P

versioning....

is there a way to have Octane follow a normal versioning system?

for example,
1.0.0.0 would be version 1, THE major release.
1.0.2.46 would be the current beta version we have ...

Re: Octane and internet connection

hey Carl, you use max.. go ahead and take your network card out of your computer and see what max does. unless you're using a floating license:

that's right, its a dongle.

Its not as unused as you think.. I can probably find a pile of commercial software that use them (vray for one) actually, Id ...

Re: HDRI video

yeah all thats needed is float output from octane and you can do the exact same thing.. the only reason the hdr trick is nice in this case is it's in video form. Video is notorious for clipping anything so its nice to see a few tricks to t areras that.. (theres one with a couple of RED cameras that ...

Re: Open CL on the roadmap? When?

okay I guess I'm not really making my point. What I'm trying to say (without putting words in people mouths) is that you would open your market to a far broader audience (by double, you go from *1* card vendor to at least *2* I was using 70/30 as the install base spread, are you really taking ...

Re: Open CL on the roadmap? When?

Oh I'm sure its a bit away (vray 2.0), but regardless of what they're happy/not happy with, you cant deny it's pretty damn fast, can you? like, video doesn't lie in this scenario.

cheers

Re: Open CL on the roadmap? When?

that "double" comment is semantics

so what you're saying is ..

YOU have a wicked awesome widget

you sell said widget for 1000 bucks a pop

70% of people can buy it for their grommet in its current state ($70k)
with a few changes, you can sell it to the rest or the population that uses a ...

Bug report standardization

I was thinking about this whilst perusing the forums looking at a lot of the crash reports and I've been on a few betas in my career, and I've found most follow this formula, and make things
a: easier to search and
b: easier for devs to make sense of

-----------
-1- build name::short bug ...
