Nope, sorry, this is the behavior of the Octane plugin from the beginning, as far as I can remember. The objects to be instanced must be always enabled to let the plugin extract it ...

Allright let me know if and how I can help, it's a bit hard as previously mentioned to send a test scene for this special case but I will do what I can if you have any ideas.

Sorry, but this is something that I can't reproduce here. The HDAs with the node switcher inside work fine here. In fact, for example, the current Render Target HDA has a lot of these nodes. What are the exact steps to reproduce this problem?

I figured it out, if the object the instance attribute is pointing at has its blue display flag turned off it doesnt work in Octane (it works in Mantra / Redshift / Arnold).

Here is link to .HIP where it fails. Done in 17.0.352 and 4.00.0.21.

Houdini Instancing bug

Houdini Instancing not working with 2+ instance attributes. Tested with both latest v3 and v4 in both 16.5 and 17.0 with latest supported production builds.

Image attached to show that the 2nd instance attribute for some reason gets ignored.

Houdini, NodeSwitcher and Displacement.

I need to switch between 2 nodes inside a HDA, and Octane has the ‘NodeSwitcher’ to switch.

But Houdini does not recognize the NodeSwitchers input and output pinns datatype and basically destroys the HDA if you try to connect it out (luckeliy I have backups).

Great work Juanjo, v4 specially 2018.1 gonna be super nice with the attributes!

Just have to ask, was it ever decided which plugins that are going to be free or not for v4? not sure where to find new info about that so I ask here.

This change has been made while working in the H17 plugin version. Now you need to add "Octane" as vopnet mask in the Octane HDAs, as expected (the same happens with Mantra and all the other external renderers).

In H17 the old trick of checking inside the HDAs if there were Octane vop nodes to ...

Something seems to have changed with the "Octane Material Builder", previously I could spawn my own HDA's inside it. I no longer seem to be able to do that. Earlier versions of V4 it worked but not anymore, and they still work fine in V3.

Please advice.
