Cinema has been way ahead of the Maya plugin, as far as release (vs3 testing release 4+ months ahead).
Features such as procedural displacement have been in C4D and Lightwave for quite a while.
Procedural displacement was a feature request for the Maya plugin about 2 years ago but we're still not ...

Re: v3 Pricing
Can we still buy V2 licenses?
We are going to be getting a new pc with Maya, and so for the time being will need to purchase V2 standalone with the V2 Maya plugin.
Thanks

Re: GPU RAM footprint for Polygon and Texture
Cool.
I'm on V2 at the mo (and V2 Maya plugin), so am looking at the 19 mill cap.
Is 'W*H*16 bytes per buffer' width and height?
Thanks again.

Re: GPU RAM footprint for Polygon and Texture
Hi Calus
Thanks for the info.
When you say 'image buffer', is this the amount of RAM used for saving out the 10K image?
As for the parallele sample, do I set this parameter in the render settings?
Thanks again.

GPU RAM footprint for Polygon and Texture
Hi all
is there a chart for how much GPU RAM is used, for both textures and geometry?
We're looking in to a system which will handle around 20 million poly+ and render out at 10K.
Cheers

I think a lot of this is post work.
You can do a lot more with this, with more time, but I had a quick tweak with your raw render, to be a little more in line with one of the ref shots:

Re: Mac + eGPU
I’ve contacted Akitio and they said that unfortunately, they cannot provide support for their PCIe to support GPU cards. They were very helpful, and suggested searching the TechInferno AKiTiO forums, but again, any modifications done to the box would void any warranty.

That's brilliant info, thanks Tom.
I'm in the UK, so will see if I can get a similar set up delivered.
Thanks again.

Re: Mac + eGPU
Hi all
I would like to test the feasibility of working with the Mac Pro (Maya) and Octane, as we're a mac based office.
I have a pc with Titan Black's at home (so I can use a few of these cards for testing) and I'm wanting to hook a couple up to a Mac Pro to test if the latest Nvidia drivers work ...
