Yes, we know about it, it's bug in Octane engine (it appears only on PMC kernel). Already fixed, will be released in next version.Ide wrote:The rendering does not finish. If I have 1000 samples it stops about 980 samples.

Hi! This may be a stuppid question, but does camera animation exports to aembic file and if it is, how should I setup Standalone to use this camera animation? Thanks!
UPD: Sorry, I've found the answer ))

Yes, it should export. Camera's position and parameters should change when you move the timeline in standalone. If it don't for you - I will check it tomorrow when I will reach the office.aLeXXtoR wrote:Hi! Well, maybe I am very clumsy, but I am still not able to export to alembic format.
Are there some special parameters and path to get an alembic export ? Which format must I chose in the Render/Output panel ?
All I got so far are black images instead of an alembic file. The extension of an alembic file is supposed to be .abc but there is no such option in the Output format list !
Thanks in advance.

Thank you aLeXXtoR, but I still get only a serie of pitch black PNG images and no alembic file.
EDIT : It works, but I discovered a weird thing :
I had chosen Global as mesh type. I tried to select As is as you shown on your screen shot, and this time I got the alembic file in my output folder !
then, I selected Global again, and it worked as well !
Something was locked... which seems to have been unlocked by switching the mesh type selection !
This said, a serie of black images is still rendered as well.
Is there a way to create the alembic file without rendering this huge serie of useless images ?

Nothing was locked, it works OK. You just did not notice one alembic file between all the image files.ROUBAL wrote:I had chosen Global as mesh type. I tried to select As is as you shown on your screen shot, and this time I got the alembic file in my output folder !

No, it will be such a way, at least so far. Blender has no means for internal module to disable output of images from inside the module. So, I should change the code of the Blender core to do it, and I'm trying to do it as less as possible, to not interfere with all the feature modifications by Blender foundation. Only core-modifications I've done - are those that absolutely required to make the plugin functional. But this issue is not so destructive to make some additional Blender core changes to eliminate it...ROUBAL wrote:This said, a serie of black images is still rendered as well.

Thanks for your response Jim, but after the first trial I limited the export to 5 images to save time on following attempts, and I am sure that there was no alembic file in the folder.Nothing was locked, it works OK. You just did not notice one alembic file between all the image files.

Hi,
I'm trying to check-out this plugin but I'm having a problem getting an image from it:
- I start the Octane Server
- I start Blender
- I have the Octane plugin active in the Addon Preferences
- I have only a cube in the scene and it has an Octane Material applied to it
- I set the mode to Rendered mode and ...
Nothing!
I just get an error, I look at the log and all it tells me is that "this is not meant to happen!"
Any tips on this would be appreciated.
