in the case we will survive after December 2012 I would like to see Octane more improved.
This is my wish list:

-object inspector
-hide, unhide, hide selected, hide unselected objects, multiple selections, groups of selections
-object transformations: move, scale, rotate
-zoom to selected objects
-isometric views
-camera clipping planes
-offline material library inspector
-mix material with Fresnel blend option (for non photorealistic effects)
-simulated anisotropic material
-rendering offset for coplanar faces
-various traps to avoid cast shadows, visible to reflections, visible to camera, etc. (for fake but useful renderings)
-merge multiple obj/collada files and proxies
-proprietary optimized Octane file (obj is dead)
-Collada import (obj RIP)
-instances
-node container
-node auto reorder (vertical, horizontal)
-node zoom in/out
-node colored wires
-node filters (materials, textures, etc.)
-Distributed ethernet rendering across multiple gpus
-auto save of rendered images with time interval

Best regards.

yes because I've prayed, in these last months, for new improvements for Vray RT, being me a vray user....and today an Octane user.

I understand well that CUDA and OpenCL are new languages and It's difficult to engineer new code. We will see improvements and cheap hardware in a couple of years.

Perhaps a strong and better integration with 3ds Max and Octane will help us. I think that with the right code Max could drive all Octane parameters, included the possibility to do objects transformations.
