export scene / orbx materials to different program / render engine

Hello!
I'm handing off a scene I've built in maya with orbx materials to a previz company... I'm assuming they dont use octane so hoping to export an FBX / USD / OBJ with materials maintained... is this possible? Currently when I try, all the orbx materials end up a default lambert 1.
Appreciate any and all help! Thanks

Hi Baxley,

Thanks for the post.

Oh, unfortunately we only support converting the materials from other renderers.

Do you happen to know if they have any iPad or iMac with M series?
You can export as Orbx file and use the OctaneX app (free) or request to use OctaneRender Standalone demo!

We have a request ticket to implement the FBX/USD export feature from Octane 2027.

cheers

Thanks for the response BK!
Major bummer on the not being able to export currently... wasn't the materialx announcement a few years back supposed to fix this?

Thanks again!

Thank you Baxley,
Yeah, it is a bummer aye! It would be best to check earlier if they use Octane.
OctaneRender for Maya also has Demo installers if they need Maya scene files.
or they could subscribe for a single month license!

Yeah, we are WIP with Octane 2027.1 branch that has MaterialX.

cheers
