Cinema 4D 2024.2.0 on Mac M1 Pro (Sonoma 14.1.2) not detecting Octane plugin

Hello,
I’m running Cinema 4D 2024.2.0 on a Mac M1 Pro, macOS Sonoma 14.1.2, and I’m having an issue with Octane plugins.

No version of the plugin seems to be detected by Cinema 4D. I’ve tried:
- Multiple versions of the Octane plugin for C4D
- Standalone Octane X
- Both Cinema 4D 2024 and 2023
- Granting permissions via Terminal (xattr -cr)

Other plugins, such as Grayscale, work without issues.
Despite all attempts, Cinema 4D simply does not recognize the Octane plugin.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue with M1 Macs / Sonoma / C4D 2024.2, or could provide guidance on how to make Cinema detect the plugin?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi,

First of all, please upgrade macOS to 14.7 to have the latest Apple Metal driver for macOS Sonoma.

Then, the issue is caused by C4D 2024.2.0 build, it is too old.
Maxon has introduced new particles system from 2024.4 build, so now it is the minimum version you can have for C4D 2024.
Please upgrade C4D build to 2024.4 or greater, or install one of the supported C4D versions for macOS.

The minimum version builds are:
R25.117
R26.107
2023.2
2024.4
2025.0.1
2026.0.0

ciao,
Beppe
