This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for ArchiCAD TEST and STABLE releases.

SOLUTIONS TO COMMON ISSUES

1) Make sure your NVIDIA drivers are up to date.

2) How do I extract the ArchiCAD 28 (or any prior version of ArchiCAD) textures from the ArchiCAD 28 Library - 'File'->'Libraries and Objects'->'Extract a Container'. Select C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\ARCHICAD 28\ARCHICAD Library 28\Surface Catalog 28.lcf to extract to Documents\AC28SurfaceCatalog. Then add the library to the Library Manager.

3) How do I extract the ArchiCAD 29 (or any subsequent version of ArchiCAD) textures from the ArchiCAD 29 Library - See the process at viewtopic.php?t=85652

4) How do I resolve the "The application cannot start...." warning when starting ArchiCAD - See the process at viewtopic.php?t=85653

ArchiCAD Version
This version of the plugin runs on ArchiCAD 27, 28 and 29 - 64 bit Windows (7, 8, 10 and 11).

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 451 or higher.

Is there a macOS version of the plugin? - at this point in time there is no macOS version of the plugin. Given the large amount of effort it would take to migrated the plugin to macOS, and the small potential audience for the macOS plugin, I do not think there will be a macOS version in the foreseeable future.

Network Rendering
For Network Rendering, you must use the Octane slave release from the Octane Standalone installer which matches the exact Octane version of the plugin you are using..

Support Issues
If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- ArchiCAD version (ArchiCAD -> Help -> License Information -> Version and Build Number
- OctaneRender for ArchiCAD version (ie. 1.02a)
- In the unlikely event of a crash, pls provide the dump report from the C:\Users\[username]\Graphisoft\BugReporting-[version] folder (on Win 7). Either post or email (to "paul at physicalc-software.com") the "ArchiCAD-XXXXXX-FATAL.RPT" file from this folder.

Hi !
I use Octane render on 3dsmax from years. ( octane studio+ )
I wanted to install Archicad 29 version.
I moved the two add-on in "Extension > Visualisation" folder. ( I have a French Archicad version )
But when I launch Archicad I get an error window.
In Add-on folder Add-on are there, but in 3D Window Octane render Logo don't appear.

Hope you can help. Best regards :-)

Hello

I get that same "The application cannot start..." dialog even when the Octane plugin is not installed, so I don't think it is the Octane plugin causing that.

It looks like the plugin has loaded correctly from your screenshots. You should be able to start it with the Document->Creative Imaging->OctaneRender menu.

It is also worth noting that it doesn't look like you are on the latest version of ArchiCAD, which is 29.1.0 (4006).

I hope that gets you started.

Hi Paul ! Thanks for answer !

Yes it works :-)
This warning message start appearing just after octane render add on install...
Could you tell me what Octane install and where ?

Congratulation for your implementation of octane in Archicad : simple but effective !
Unfortunately for you, I'll have certainly a lot of questions for you :-)

Is it possible to use "octane_movable_proxy" to have a live update when transforming objects ?

In : "C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\ARCHICAD 23\" I do not have "ARCHICAD Library X" but Packs with ".libpack" extension.

Best regards.

The Octane libraries get added to C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\Archicad 29. The two Octane Add-On files (OctaneRenderForArchiCAD_Renderer.gmx and OctaneRenderForArchiCAD.apx) get installed to C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\Archicad 29\Add-Ons\Visualisation

As an experiment, I deleted the octane libraries from C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\Archicad 29 and the popup error dialog disappeared, so ArchiCAD must be doing a check that there are no additional files in this folder. I will see if I can resolve this.

This has been requested before (as it would be great!) but unfortunately there was no way for the plugin to detect that the proxy had been moved.

This is in the C:\Program Files\GRAPHISOFT\Archicad 29\Archicad Library Packages folder for ArchiCAD 29.

Hi,
As I'm a little dumb : Octane can't find textures from Archicad 29. Could you tell me ( again ) what I have to do to make it work ?
Cheers

Hi. Normally you would follow the instructions at "SOLUTIONS TO COMMON ISSUES" above, issue 2). However it appears Graphisoft have changed the location of the .lcf files in ArchiCAD 29, so I will need to find the new process for this. I will contact Graphisoft and get back to you in the next day or so.

Also - I have resolved the warning dialog that the plugin is causing when starting ArchiCAD. This fix is in the next release, which should be out in the next few days.

Thanks

Paul

The solution that worked for me was...

1) File->Library and Objects->doubleclick Surface Catalog.libpack->select Surface Catalog->Surface Catalog->Extract->Documents/AC29SurfaceCatalog
2) File->Library and Objects->Libraries in Project->Add Documents/AC29SurfaceCatalog

To confirm all is OK, you should have the folder C:\Users\[username]\Documents\AC29SurfaceCatalog\Surface Catalog\[TImg] Textures\Brick on your system.

From there, you may need to go into the Octane plugin and Materials tab->Reconvert all materials from ArchiCAD

Ideally you will update your starting template so that the Documents/AC29SurfaceCatalog is always present in libraries in the project (I am unsure how you do this - sorry).

Please let me know if this works for you, as the process changed in ArchiCAD 29 with the introduction of libpacks.

Thanks

Paul
