CLS 63 AMG finished

Hello Octaners,

It has been a long time since i've post something, i was busy as hell (my paying job is just killing me). Anyhow, here's the finished CLS 63 AMG model. I worked a bit more on the body, remodeling a lot of things, changing some textures etc. I didn't want to post some everyday studio renderings, instead i've pushed things a lot further (thanks to the 32-bit output) and tried to cover the entire color gamut from reddish-yellow to blue in 7 images. I've used "graphite" gray color for the car (so it's less confusing), there's several combinations for the rim finish, glass tint, front grill mesh etc.

The Car was done in Maya (by me, down to the last bolt), the tire texture sculpted in Zbrush and exported as the normal map, the disc calipers modeled in Maya then decimated from 120.000 polys to 5.000 triangles using Zbrush, all post-processing done in NukeX, render times 5-7 mins. As always, your comments are more than welcome and greatly appreciated so fire away...

All the best,
Voja

Sir, I must admit, you are a master at this, i only wish to get as good as you someday..
do you have any tips for an ameteur who's just beginning like me? I especially intrigued by how you managed to achieve the very artistic lighting in the first photo. Please do message back

lovely renderings.... I especially like the glares you added in post: and would like to ask the makers again to add that feature directly to octane!

are there any tutorials in the web how to add such nice glare with photoshop or so? im missing it since my maxwell render days. glares and lense dirt add an extra to every image.

Hi Ashutosh,

Thank you for your kind words. My first advice is arm yourself with a tone of patience. Every time you switch an HDR image ALWAYS TWEAK materials (reflections, bump and normal map strength etc). Do the lighting first and then adjust materials accordingly. Always render underexposed images and crank up the contrast in post-processing (these images will generally look dark and moody, don't let that throw you away). The best thing you can do is PLAY a lot with everything ( just like a kid ) and when you hit a barrier, don't stop, find a working solution..... this is how you build up your creativity, and sooner or later (if you keep at it) your own style will emerge, SO BE PATIENT !!! :)

All the best,
Voja

To cornel: Thanks for your comment
To mbetke: i don't know if this is possible with PS, but my word of advice would be to add glow ONLY on the brightest part of the img (not everywhere), and when you do so, always tone down the opacity to about 40-50%
