Octane in Cinema 4D 2023.1.2 shows ‘there is no CUDA device which is selected’ (RTX 5050)

My specs and setup:

Cinema 4D version: 2023.1.2

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 (8 GB)

Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver 581.29 (released Sep 10, 2025) – see screenshots below

Octane settings: RTX acceleration is enabled, Composite AOV on GPU is enabled, and my GPU appears in the available devices list.

Even though my RTX 5050 shows up under Octane’s device preferences, when I try to render, I get the error:

“There is no CUDA device which is selected.”

Does anyone know why Octane isn’t recognizing my GPU or how to fix this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You need an OctaneRender version from 2025.1 or greater, to be able to use it with new Nvidia 50X0 Blackwell architecture.

Here is the link to latest stable version 2025.3-v1.7.1:
https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloads/plugins/0d/d0/9b/28/OctaneRender_Studio%2B_2025.3_for_Cinema4D_v1.7.1.exe

Unfortunately, Maxon C4D 2023.1.2 build is too old, and cannot work with recent OctaneRender plugin versions.

For a correct installation of c4doctane plugin, firstly you need to update your Maxon C4D to a recent build, (R21.155, S22.118, R23.110, S24.111, R25.117, R26.107, 2023.2, 2024.4, 2025.0.1, 2026.0), or the plugin will not be correctly loaded.

Could you update Maxon C4D 2023 to 2023.2.2, or install one of the supported C4D versions?

ciao,
Beppe
