Memory Issue

Using OctaneBlender Addon 2025.2.1 - 30.6 Beta Release [TEST] on macOS 15.5 MacBook Pro M4 MAX.

I'm not sure what's causing this, and I'm pretty sure this isn't intended, and I can say with certainty I didn't see this is OctaneRender™ for Blender 2025.2.1 - 30.5 [STABLE]

This issue happens in every scene I've tried.

If I turn on the preview render, the ram usage of blender jumps.

If I turn that preview render off, the ram usage doesn't go back down.

If I turn the preview render on again, the ram usage jumps even more.

Turn it off, still stays even higher than it was.

Rinse and repeat.

Screenshot attached.

1. Is after opening the scene just in its default state.

2. I have ran a preview render a couple times and it is currently rendering.

3. Same scene having done the above steps a few more times to make sure I'm not crazy now running an F12 render. Octane server is still using roughly the same amount of ram.

My best guess I this is something like keeping texture files in the ram as it is most noticeable in files that use texture maps.

4. F12 Render has completed, I am back to the standard viewport with only solid shading enabled.

Also of note, if I create a new empty scene, the ram usage still does not come back down. My best guess is this has something to do with texture images being loaded into ram but never being purged.

I just tested this on the PC version, and memory usage looks normal, as you can see:

I turned the Octane preview on and off three times, and memory consumption remained stable.

This seems to be a Mac-specific issue, so I’ll point the developers to this thread.

Thanks!
