Howdy,

Blender crashes when I try to activate Octane addon.
I installed Blender_Octane_Edition_2025.2.1_30.5.0_stable, and OctaneServer_Prime_2025.2.1_30.5_stable but the blender app doesn't show the Octane file under New File or show Octane as a render option. Running Nvidia game ready driver version 577.00 released Jul 22 2025.
Octane Server is running and logged in.
Any ideas on why Blender is Crashing?
Machine is as follows:
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
Installed RAM 128 GB
Storage 1.82 TB SSD Samsung
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (24 GB)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

The first thing I would recommend, would be to uninstall your current Drivers, and replace them with their Studio Driver equivalents. These versions (marked 'SD' for short) are optimized to work with software like OctaneRender, and should be used instead of Game Ready Drivers - while Game Ready Drivers can be functional, they are not considered reliable for use with OctaneRender. There is a strong chance that your current issues are being caused by the Game Ready drivers.



For further assistance, I recommend that you contact OTOY Support. If the fix above doesn't work for you, get in touch with Support and they should help you sort it out.

I have installed on my Dell T7820 workstation Blender Octane 2025 and it run smoothly for the first time, but when i opened it next day it give me errors like Network problems or time out.
Ok so i uninstall it. After some days i reinstall it and surprize, it works ok but the next day the errors came back again .
So what can i do to make it run every time.
I already use from some time Blender Octane 2024 and it work every time i start it.
My machine have 2 intel Xeon, 128 GB Ram and Nvidia RTX 5000.

It sounds like you’ve done most of the setup correctly, but a few things could be causing Blender to crash or not recognize Octane. Here are some things to check:

• Blender Version Compatibility – Make sure your Blender version exactly matches the Octane addon version. Sometimes even minor mismatches (like a patch update) can prevent the addon from loading.
  
  Addon Installation Path – Double-check that the Octane addon is installed in Blender’s correct addons directory. Installing in the wrong folder can make it invisible under Preferences → Add-ons.
  
  GPU Drivers – You mentioned running the NVIDIA 577.00 Game Ready driver. Octane often works better with Studio drivers rather than Game Ready drivers, especially for rendering stability. Switching to the latest Studio driver might help.
  
  Administrator Rights – Launch Blender as an administrator at least once to ensure it can register the addon properly.
  
  Log Files – Check Blender’s console (Window → Toggle System Console) when starting up. Any errors related to Octane will give clues if a library or GPU issue is causing the crash.
  
  Octane Server Connection – Even though OctaneServer is running, sometimes Blender needs the server to be running before starting the app. Try starting OctaneServer first, then Blender.

If after all this it still crashes, consider doing a clean install of both Blender and the Octane plugin—sometimes leftover config files cause conflicts.
