I can't get a custom AOV to display even a simple red colour (it needs to show a gradient matched to the axis of the object, the red is to try and debug)

As you can see I get a red fringe on my custom AOV pass, so some data is being passed, but it should be solid red, not just out of focus fringes Here is the geo Here is the node setup with the capture AOV set to AOV 2 And here is the AOV manager showing the custom is set to custom 2 Finally, here is the beauty pass The shader is an octane glossy material.

Maybe you have a piece of glass or some other geometry between the camera and the object such that the object stays fully visible to the camera in the render but when isolated through the custom AOV it doesn't see it correctly.

Thanks for your suggestion, I have cleaned out the scene completely to avoid any anomalies so there are no plains or lights, but the results are as above.
