Is there any reason why a blur node is not supplied out of the box ? Yes I know there is a OSL workaround.

A Blur node is not available in Standalone as a shading node, though it is available as an effect in the compositor. That’s the reason.

Is it possible to blur a mask node or a noise node and where is the compositor?

You can use blur on any available layer.

You can learn about the AOVS/compositor in Octane whatching this video (it's pretty old, but the principles still apply):

Perhaps this is a misunderstanding. I think a Blur node to blur textures in the node graph.

Please see the osl workaround. A non OSL Blur Node would be really handy.

I converted the Redshift Blur Node from https://github.com/Maxon-Computer/Redsh ... n/Blur.osl to Octane

That could be a good start for a native Blur Node ;-)

For whatever reason the script does not work with the beta but with the 29.18 stable release

Have fun

This request is related to an Octane engine feature. Typically, any node added in Octane Standalone becomes available in all integrations as well.
