Octane and crashes

Hey guys,
I find that Octane crashes quite a bit, just wondering if any of you have the same problem or that it might be my GPU that is faulty.
On heavy scenes it can just shut down 3ds max or just stall on a black render. Also when I have rendered a sequence for an animation, when I then want to change something in the 3d scene, it crashes after I close the render view.
Thanks

Hi larsgehrt,
Are you using 3ds Max 2025?

No, I use 2022 for stability. Is 2025 better?
Maybe I also need to find an older Nvidia driver?

Hi larsgehrt,
Personally, I would go for the 2024 version for now, unless you have specific requirements. It also seems that the latest Nvidia drivers (Studio version) are working well at the moment. Could you tell me if these crashes happen with simple scenes, or only with more complex ones and heavy textures?

Hey,
this only happens on heavy scenes, not texture heavy but geometry heavy.
Like the attached
I will try an update my 3ds max see if it helps.
Thanks

Hi larsgehrt,
In those cases, have you tried activating the out-of-core?
Out of Core allows using your RAM memory to store any kind of out of core data, like textures and geometry.

Oh yes, its activated and on 100 GB
I think its a combination of old max and the wrong driver. But i need to do some more tests

FIX = Faulty GPU. Getting it replaced
