I am mostly a Daz and Poser user, but was stunned by Octane renders I saw. I knew I had to have this. After upgrading to Cuda so I could play with it, I have been having a lot of fun with it. I have been working with Octane about a week and a half since I bought a license, this is the image I have been most happy with so far, what do you think?

Nice render, did you try the SSS trick Refracty used lately for skin?

Not bad at all for a first try. Nice result on the stockings material.
Being a DAZ/Poser user I think the most difficult parts of human models are the skin and the eyes. For the skin, you should follow hmk's advice. And for the eyes, don't hesitate to spend time on tweaking materials (well, it's true for any material ...) because they are responsible of 90% of the attractivity of a character (imho).
Keep on the good work.

Thanks for the info, will definitely try the link from HMK.

I have been mostly going through trial and error, the stockings looked horrible on the first few tries, but through experimentation with the sliders, was finally able to look right. I think if i remeber right it was a combo of roughness and gamma that finally made it look like it should.

Mostly on skin, I have been enabling bump and turning gamma up to 8. That seems to make most poser/daz models look good instead of a cellulite mess. Sometimes, I need to turn down the power too on certain models.

I have my order in for poser 2012 which has sss, but octane really can make some nice renders. I really liked this one. I can't wait to see what I can come up with a year down the road once I get better at exporting and being able to adjust the settings.

This program has so much potential.

The Octane team should be on the horn to Daz and Smith Micro to make a plug in. This program is awesome for a beta.

I just loaded the render,

to get the stockings right,

I turned gamma up to 8 in the image section, and turned roughness up to 1 in specular section, and finally turned gamma up to 8 in the bump section and clicked the enable box in the bump section. Those were the mods it took to get the stockings right.

I wonder if there is any plan for an SSS material in Octane.
