hi there.
interior shot with pathtracing ? i know i have mentioned before ,but it is a big issue for me , because architecture
visualization is what i do for living .
I cant do any interior shots with pathtracing the finnished rendering is allways grainy .is it me or is it octane ??

i have a screenshot with pathtracing and one with directlight.

that's normal, pathtracing is more complicated than direct lighting so, too have a great quality with pathtracing, you have to make longer renders.

Its mainly because there's no MLT and you got glass all over the place
Even at 32'000 samples it would be grainy without it

MLT gonna fix the noise and the fireflies, and light portals gonna speed up the render by like 1.5x to 3x
(based on other render engine I used)

With the current beta its very hard to do archviz, you need to delete all your glass on your windows :?
And even without glass there's some noise, because of the MLT not being implemented yet

1.5 to 3x faster

are you sure of that ? It is from what source ?

because if it is really true, that is really awsome/great...

more quality, less time...

Well im speaking about GI (global illumination) portals in biased engines like Vray etc...
They focus the rays to the interior, so if the sun emmit 10'000 rays, instead of having only 10% entering the windows you get like 80% with portals

Its not 1.5x to 3x faster, the samples per second is the same but you got less noise faster
In the end its like if you were rendering faster. It must be the same for pathtracing

Add MLT wich also help having less noise in less time, and you will get a lot of speed improvement
