Hi,

This is my first interior scene.
I have problem with the fireflies between the plates. Another problem the glasses are too dark on the right corner (Clear glass from the LiveDB).
Could somebody give me some advice?
C&C are welcome. :)

Thanks,
Kupe

Octane 1.0 beta 2.52, PT, 25K samples, 1x GTX460, 18h render time.

18 hours is quite high for this. Did you render at a much higher resolution and downscale.

The original resolution was 1500x1300.

Have you used light portal in the scene, if not this will significantly reduce the render time as it will sample where the main light illuminating you scene is coming from. place a geometry plane at the same size as your window with the normal facing towards the kitchen, and apply a separate material to it. Export to octane and change your material to a portal. Other than that try render with pmc to see if it will give better result and in some cases can help reduce the noise on certain materials. ;)

I tried the portal but the render time would have been more than 21 hours so I removed from the scene.
I'm not really familiar with the PMC, the first test render was more than 20 hours (with default settings)

Make sure you do not have pure saturated materials in the scene eg lesson the saturation and brightness of the materials which still have noise, in your case the plates. maybe add more roughness to the plates. How long did it take for the render to clean up for the majority of the scene.

I tried the plates with other glossy materials as well. The problem come up every time when the roughness is less than 0.1.
Left the render until the night so I don't know how long did it take, sorry.

stunning work, a few more environment changes or a sunky render, and it would look photo real

The other thing to try is do a render with pmc. it will solve that noise problem on the plates. I did some renders for a scene I did and it would become clean enough on certain materials, so I tryed pmc and it cleaned it a lot faster than pathtracing did, give it a try and experiment. If you are unsure what the settings are on the pmc kernel, this is a guide.

All you need is to change these parameters:

exploration strength - This determines long it will sample good paths before it will try to find a new path which will help in the rendering.

value 1 - It will explore as many good paths for the rendering. I think you only need to set this for very complicated interiors where their is lots of difficult areas where illumination has to reach.
value 0 - It will produce the noise and for the main path it finds and calculates it. Similar to how pathtracing would work.

Direct light importance - This will determine what areas will be sampled the most to get better result.

value 1 - the areas with direct lighting will be sampled most
value 0 - All the tricky areas which light has to get at. e.g. indirect light.

The portal will require more rendering time to reach the specified samples you used but this is not a problem. It actually will render about 2x faster. This is because it requires much less samples to get a cleaner image since it is sampling where the environment light is coming from. I think it's perfect to try with yours since you have natural sky light which portals work best with.
If you had say 6000 samples to get a clean image without portal and took say 2 hours, if you have portal enabled it will reduce the ms/sec,
but because it samples where the light is it will give a clean image in half the time, maybe even more it depends entirely how complicated your interior is.
