Cryptomatte is wrong in the Picture Viewer

Hello there,
I'm having an issue with cryptomatte layers. When I render it in Live Viewer, it appears to operate OK, but when I render it in Picture Viewer, it does not. It is completely shattered. I save it as EXR (Octane), so the format isn't an issue. Do you have any clue where the issue is?

Hi,
please go to c4d menu Extensions/Console, (Shift+F10), and share a complete screenshot of the panel, or copy paste the default console output in your answer, thanks.
Please also share a screenshot from Render Settings/OctaneRender/Render AOV group tab, showing the Cryptomatte settings, thanks.
ciao,
Beppe

I also noticed that Cryptomate doesn't work in Photoshop using EXR-IO plugin. It works only as separate material masks but not as all in one color image.

I tried it with DaVinici Resolve, but it's worthless because the output is....well....unusable. I tried turning off the alpha channel and a few other things, as well as using the standard EXR format, but it didn't work.
I'm using version 2022.1.2 R3. Do you know if the same issue exists with a lower version?

Because
Resolve is the wrong tool. Fusion Studio (standalone)
is the right tool (or Nuke).

I've previously used Cryptomatte in a DaVinci/Fusion page and everything went smoothly. In any case, the incorrect Cryptomatte layer generated in the Picture Viewer is unrelated to the postprocessing tool. It's an Octane/Cinema bug.
Has anyone else have this problem and fixed it?

Hi,
ok, unfortunately the log is not complete, and the exact version of plugin used is not visible.,
Anyway yes, Picture Viewer result is not displayed correctly, but it is not important, since the saved result is correct with Photoshop and EXR-IO:

But why my cryptomates looks in Photoshop like this ?
Yes, cryptomate masks display fine in PS but you know that for large scenes you have dozens of different masks that is not good.

Cryptomatte offers automatic masking, and can be very useful, especially with complex scenes, but can be used in different ways, materials, geometry, objects, ecc.
So, based on the structure of the scene, you need to find the mode that better suits for your needs.
