I'm feeling a bit thick here. but i can't seem to find a place to read about new features of each version of octane? like i haven't updated since 2020 version. And i want to just catch up on whats new in 2021, 2022 and 2023..

This is it. The forum is where all the build change logs are being posted at. Standalone “Core” branch and plugins for 3D DCCs implementation related changes.

if you want to read in details what has been added in each major rlease, the trick is to go to the "Development Build Releases" section of the forum:
viewforum.php?f=33
Then chose a version and click on the "Changes since 20XX" link, until you arrive at the first build of each series.
2021.1:

2022.1:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=78783
2023.1:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=81650
